About
“Who was that masked man?”
Alex Colquitt is an American ex-pat who’s been living in Australia for over 20 years. He occasionally takes trips back home to see his family in the Chicago area, but he’s realized the changes in the American way of life were much too depressing. He’s now content to keep in touch with family by e-mail or VoIP and has found many of his old cronies via the Internet. He stays current with United States affairs and waves the Stars & Stripes in as many Antipodean faces as he can.
He’s been heavily involved in the Information Technology field in Australia and in the heady days of the early 1990′s, was one of the well known faces in the Canberra IT scene. He maintains the Bywong websites and mail servers as a masochistic hobby.
He also owns and operates a ‘Baby Boomer’ tourist radio station in the Lake George region, which not only caters to local businesses and the boutique wine industry, but is also the only American Multicultural radio station in Australia. He decided to try and make a few quid from the 36 years experience as an Amateur Radio operator and still maintains his licenses as WD9AND and VK1AC.
He lives on a small, forested 30 acre ranch in the Bywong highlands with his lovely wife, three horses, two cats, a semi-vicious dog, a multitude of hungry kangaroos and a menagerie of wild bird species. (Eat yer heart out Canberra… All the Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoos are out here.)
Aside from dabbling in Tourist radio stations, his passions are his woman, motorcycles, Greek, Cajun & French cooking, Ham radio, photography and local politics, just about in that order.
